The four members of 19-Twenty stand on a stage with a packed audience behind them. The crowed is cheering and excited.

the southern ocean sea band

The Southern Ocean Sea Band has re-emerged from the icy waters and chilly mists of south-west Victoria with its second album Into The Blue. The 10-piece lineup of acoustic and electric instruments brings an anthemic folk-rock mix from ship-shape singalongs to dark explorations, about legendary sea captains, mythic sharks, tragic journeys, mermaids and more – all emerging from the real-life (and slightly exaggerated) stories of the band’s hometown of Port Fairy. The band was born directly from the late Danny Spooner’s annual Shanties at the Wharf sessions, and inspired by their hometown they produced and released their epic debut album Blood & Bones & Fins & Glory in 2017. They have since been a favourite touring throughout regional Victoria, spreading their love of songs and shanties far and wide. The band cite The Fairytale of Port Fairy event in 2018 as a career highlight, including performing with Steve Poltz and Rebecca Barnard. In addition to the full lineup shows, be sure to see their usually packed-out Shanty Workshop and the Danny Spooner Memorial Shanty Session for more local legends and other traditional tales.
