Maeve Grieve
Maeve Grieve is a Melbourne-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist blending jazz, folk, and alternative rock into a fearless, genre-defying sound. Originally from Tasmania, she crafts music that combines intricate guitar work with evocative, narrative-driven songwriting, drawing inspiration from Madison Cunningham, Blake Mills, and Joni Mitchell.
Her debut EP, ‘Midnight Commute’ (2024), is an intimate exploration of change, longing, and late-night observations. The four-track release resonated strongly with audiences, with its sold-out launch at The Gaso Upstairs marking a milestone moment and receiving airplay and features across Melbourne and national radio.
A first-class graduate of the Jazz and Improvisation Honours program at The University of Melbourne, Maeve’s artistry is shaped by deep musical study and fearless innovation. Her work has already been recognised with the New Frontiers Award at the 2023 Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival and the 2024 LUMINA Composition Award.
In 2025, Maeve’s career continues to rise. She was named a national finalist in the Emerging Artist category at the Australian Women in Music Awards, and will embark on her first solo East Coast tour in October–November. She will also open for Australian icon Liz Stringer at the Corner Hotel and return to the Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival.
With a debut album set for 2026, Maeve is carving out her place as a bold and original new voice in Australian music.
Maeve Grieve is joining the Port Fairy Folk Festival through the Future Folk Program, a partnership between Port Fairy Folk Festival and Moyne Shire Council’s AMPLIFY program, with funding by the Victorian Government.
