Maddie Jackway
Maddie Jackway marries introspective folk storytelling with catchy pop hooks and soulful vocals to create a union that is uniquely hers. Reminiscent of Meg Mac, Yebba and Adele, Jackway creates music for overthinkers and deep-feeling individuals. Jackway’s vocal mastery captivates audiences in both recordings and live performances, drawing them in as she explores the multi-faceted human condition and shares the secrets she wouldn’t otherwise speak.
Hailing from Warrnambool, Jackway moved to Melbourne to study music where she discovered the unbridled artistic expression and captivating storytelling of Joni Mitchell, Nai Palm (Hiatus Kaiyote) and Lianne La Havas. An upbringing fuelled with pop songs paired with this newfound love of folk and soul artists saw the emergence of a style unbound by genre that would become synonymous with Jackway’s artistry. Her debut EP, ‘What Is This Freedom?’ was released in May 2020.
In April 2024, Jackway released her sophomore EP ‘Kindred’ which she co-produced with keyboardist Jake Amy. A product of her time as the Victoria University Music Artist in Residence, the five-track EP features haunting vocal harmonies and hypnotic rhythmic elements; while topics of social anxiety, change and love narrate the open and honest body of work.
