Mathilde Anne
When artist Mathilde Anne tells her story, you know she’s speaking for you too. Whether in haunting beauty, or lyrically shooting from the hip, Mathilde speaks her mind. The alt-pop artist has a way of making the deeply personal feel universally resonant. Her lyrics cut through with honesty, vulnerability, and cinematic drama – whether whispering over ambient textures or soaring into anthemic choruses.
In 2024, she released her debut album ‘Normal’ – a genre-bending exploration of self-acceptance, heartbreak, and identity. The project was supported by Creative Victoria’s Music Works grant.
Mathilde’s work draws influence from artists like Bilie Eilish, Gracie Abrams, The Cranberries and Sir Chloe blending introspection with cathartic energy. She’s supported acts such as Cub Sport, Joan & The Giants, Charlie Pittman, Telenova, Pisco Sour, and more, and performed at major venues including The Corner Hotel and Oxford Arts Factory. Her track ‘Break’ (featuring Des Cortez) remained in the AMRAP Metro Charts Top 10 for three weeks.
Very soon she turns a new page with Cigarettes and Anxious Sex – a forthcoming EP co-written with international collaborators including Pam Sheyne (Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus) – plus more to be announced. This EP marks a bold creative pivot while bridging her debut album and next body of work, currently in development.
Mathilde Anne is joining the Port Fairy Folk Festival through the Future Folk Program, a partnership between Port Fairy Folk Festival and Moyne Shire Council’s AMPLIFY program, with funding by the Victorian Government.
